Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
Zampa bowled really well yesterday.

Absolutely shat himself batting though.

Good to see two leggie's bowling well actually.

Ish Sodhi was MoM. Him and Bracewell won the game for us with their bowling spells in the middle there.

Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
The one I've seen via cricinfo is the 2014 to 2019 one which ends with the ODI World Cup mid 2019
Presumably any agreed series are from the 2019/20 Summer up the end of 2022. They must be due to issue an extended one soon , probably just finalising a few random series.

Australian t20 15 named for the World Cup
More tinkering ... Smith is taking over the captaincy & Wade & Lyon have been ditched. Would have taken Boyce but can understand the leg spinner / off spinner choice.

Smith (c) Warner Agar Coulter-Nile Finch Hastings Hazlewood Faulkner Khawaja M Marsh Maxwell Nevill (wk) Tye Watson Zampa

Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
Yeah the existing FTP is well out of date now. In fact, I'm not quite sure how it all works these days, because it was only last year, or maybe 2014, that a new one was agreed.

And then, to get us to play the day-night test, CA agreed to a whole lot more series. So that changed the FTP straight away.

Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
The last ICC Future Tours programme I saw ran from 2014 to 2019 so haven't seen any extended version to 2022.
With both SA & NZ we should be having these series where we play 3 Tests in December in Australia & 3 in the other country in Feb or Mar. SA have been on that regular cycle but not NZ.

Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
The Big Joke Maxwell gave Bracewell shit when he was going IN to bat, so I think it's safe to say that there would have been send offs as well.

I don't know what Elliot said. Could well have been "stop swearing before you make a fool of yourself."

It's a shame, because we end up talking about dickhead Australian cricketers and their dickhead actions instead of the game.

Which we won.

I think that as part of agreeing to the pink-ball, " Llong" test, that more regular series between NZ and Australia was agreed. In fact, having just checked, it's 10 tests and 28 ODI's up to 2022 so we're presumably down to 25 ODI's and 8 tests after the test series.

Sven Roeder 10:13 Mon Feb 8
Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
Australia has never told NZ what they need to do. You play as you think best. That's your business.

Are we now saying Grant Elliot didn't abuse an Australian batsman as he was walking off? That doesn't appear to be disputed in any reports of the incident and obviously Wade's reaction could only be understood as reacting to that.
I have not read any reports of Australian bowlers or fieldsmen doing the same during the match. You seem to presume it happens as a matter of course . This is just paranoia

Quality comment on an article I just read:

NZ Media: "The BC's are bastions of fair play and upholding the spirit of the game! Australia are bully's"
Aus Media: "Yeh we are, but hey - NZ needs to get over that and get hard. Get rough. They need to act like winners we do!"
NZ media: "Okay then. Out is out - them's the rules. How does that medicine taste?"
Aus media: "Hey no fair!! *wipes tears from face* You're just big bully!"

Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
No other team HAS any players as bad as that lot Sven. That's the point you're missing.

The Australian Cricket Team are, overall, a bunch of complete pricks. There will be the odd exception obviously. Gilchrist wasn't bad, for sure.

Do you know what Elliot said to Marsh?
No.
Do you know WHEN he said it?
No.
Do you know how many times an Australian takes a wicket and then gives the batsman a send off, or a word on his way past?
Yes.

That's why it's a bit rich for Wade to be suggesting it's cowardly to say something after the bloke is on his way.

You show me when a current NZ player has acted like an Australian cricketer, and I'll criticise him.

Sven Roeder 8:59 Mon Feb 8
Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
I have always said some Australian players (I've usually named Haddin , Warner & Johnson amongst others) have been out of order.
And for each of those there is a Gilchrist, Hussey, Rogers , Harris etc.
No other team is prepared to name players who are just as bad.
I notice this incident comes from a NZ player abusing an Australian batsman when he is half way off the ground. With your encouragement.
I am still waiting for one opposition fan to criticise the behaviour of one of their players. I am not holding my breath.

According to the Future Tours Programme up to mid 2019 we can fit you in for 5 ODI's over there in Feb 2018. That's your lot.

East Auckland Hammer 8:41 Mon Feb 8
Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
Every other team might do it on the odd occasion, certainly NZ refrain on most, but Australia seem to do it any every available opportunity.

EVER single one.

I wonder if it's just coincidence that whenever there is a "war of words" or similar it's generally in an Australia vs XYZ game.

I don't have a problem with witty banter out there, but the outright abuse some of your guys (and possibly ours, who knows for sure) dish out isn't on. Starc, Faulkner, Haddin, Mitchell Marsh etc etc etc

I'm sure most of them are nice enough off the field, but on the field they're mostly cunts. Remember, I'm far from the only one who holds that opinion.

I'm not above the odd word myself, but calling someone a cunt, threatening to break someone's arm etc? Too far. It's still a gentleman's game.

Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
Its a double standard though isn't it?
All this complaining about Australian sledging and every other team is doing exactly the same thing.
Most don't get all hypocritical about it though. Its either right or wrong or as I think .... part of a hard fought game.

Actually met Mitchell Marsh briefly at the WACA and he couldn't have been more charming and friendly to my friend's kids who were getting autographs from the WA players.
Seemed a thoroughly nice young chap.
Sounds like you may have met him under different circumstances.

Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
Oh yeah, which Australians gave Elliot a serve after he got out in the CWC?

That's right, nearly all of them.

Is the Hadlee-Chappell going to end up like the Bledisloe now? Where you guys don't even get to see it for a decade or more?

Not sure when we're allowed to play you again.

East Auckland Hammer 7:58 Mon Feb 8
Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
Elliot doesn't give a shit, he's probably retiring from ODI's anyway.

The FACT remains, it's a bit rich for and Australian to start chipping away about the post-dismissal sledge, when they are the undisputed masters of it.

Wade isn't a good enough cricketer to be saying ANYTHING anyway.

I have a lot of time for people who have a go at Mitchell Marsh. He's a cock.

Thought that was the best game of the series. First was just a massacre, 2nd was quite a boring result with Aussie grinding out a win, and yesterday was something of a throwback to a more normal time in ODI cricket. Lightening starts from both teams and then collapses, and a whoever blinks first conclusion.

Really enjoyed it. Would suggest Australia and NZ are the two best ODI sides at the moment? Still?

Sven Roeder 7:01 Mon Feb 8
Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
You get too worked up over all this Jonah.
Think you just need a lie down.

Elliot was abusive to Mitchell Marsh as he was walking off the field not when he was given out.
Matthew Wade pointed out that waiting til he had walked off was the behaviour of a 'fucking coward'.
Seems a fair assessment of the S African's character to me.

East Auckland Hammer 6:53 Mon Feb 8
Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
Who said anything about liking them?

I think they're all unbelievably arrogant fuckwit who's brother and sister parents should have left them to the dingos, but I respect them as tough, fighting players and captains.

Was funny to hear that Wade have Elliot a serve for sledging someone when they got out. Apparently said that only fucking cowards do that.

I presume he was being ironic?

With the exception off the first game, NZ also didn't bat particularly well for the most part. But yes, poor batting and good NZ bowling meant we won the series easily in the end.

Mt mate Ish bowled bloody well.

Sven Roeder 11:19 Mon Feb 8
Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
You have previously said you haven't liked ANY Australian cricketer so I don't buy this rewriting of history in order to criticise a Captain less than a year into the job. Respected Steve Waugh? Hid behind the sofa wimpering more like.

NZ played better over the series and won.
Australia were let down by poor batting in all three games. As I said wickets 2 to 4 probably contributed about 10 runs in total. That's not good enough. Will be interested to see how they develop the ODI side as its in a bit of transition at the moment. Was surprised they didn't give the likes of Lynn this series and try a few more batting options. Cant really see what they see in Boland ahead of the left armer Joel Paris either.

Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
Well, Smith behaved like a spoilt little brat when an LBW appeal was turned down. Absolutely threw a proper tantrum. Showed he's still got a LONG way to go for me to respect him, like I used to with Border, Taylor, Waugh, and even the weasly little shit Ponting.

Marsh smashed it into his foot, Henry said howzat, shrugged and started to walk back to his mark, then the replay showed on the screen, and the crowd went up and the umpires saw it and asked for it to be reviewed.

As I understand it, the players have 10 seconds to ask for a referral, but until such time as the bowler commences his runup for the next ball, the umpires can make any decision they want.

I'm really not all that impressed with Marsh. He seems to buy his wickets, and is mostly muscle when he bats.

BMac became the first player to hit 200 x 6's in ODI's and 100 in tests today. Still

Sven Roeder 10:42 Mon Feb 8
Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
I have no idea why you would think that of Smith.
Apart from blind foam mouthed Kiwi bile borne of inferiority.

Haven't seen the Marsh dismissal but I understand it occurred due to incorrect use of technology and on ground replays by staff.
Probably a bit giddy using electricity & television in a series for the first time.
Appears it was the correct decision eventually no matter how incorrectly it occurred so so be it.
Another good game for Marsh though.
Needs to carry that on to the Tests now as his batting is under question and it will definitely be needed.

East Auckland Hammer 10:32 Mon Feb 8
Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
I note nobody has ever attempted that in Australian cricket. Be like trying to stop a waterfall with a seive.

Nice touch giving BMac a guard of honour. Can only assume they have a Kiwi on their staff who suggested it. Can't imagine Smith having thought of it, can you?

Oh, and Mitchell Marsh can fuck off. You're out mate, tell your story walking.

Sven Roeder 10:28 Mon Feb 8
Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa v England at Port Elizabeth
Good to see Brendon McCullum go out on a good note in ODI's.
Can understand him having had enough of attempting to add a bit of class and sporting attitude to NZ cricket.

Poor batting in all three ODI's by Australia. Imagine they will start working towards the 2017 Champions Trophy in the next Australian summer and I think a few will be on notice for their places. First ODI series defeat in 18 months but still have some work to do to get the balance right.
Cant win many ODI's when you go from 1 down to 4 down in 5 mins which they did in every game.

On to the Test matches
Likely team
1. Warner 2. Burns 3. Khawaja 4. Smith (c) 5. Voges 6. M Marsh 7. Neville (wk) 8. Siddle 9. Pattinson 10. Hazlewood 11. Lyon

What a good weekend, West Ham excluded obviously.

Smash the canary yellow cunts to retain the Hadlee-Chappell Trophy, and nick the Sevens from under their noses in Sydney, after getting off scot-free for having 8 on the field in a group game.

Loved seeing the No Show give Bracewell a big gobful when they came out to bat, and then get ANOTHER blob.
